Modifications of infrastructure in a stadium can be costly. However, the expected amount of revenue, and prestige of a stadium set to host World Cup is magnificent. Robert Kraft is a renowned American entrepreneur who has a keen interest in investing in the sports industry.
The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by three countries consecutively, the US, Canada, and Mexico. The countries’ plans and preparations are in top gear as they seek to modify the majority of their stadiums to comply with the FIFA set standards. Robert Kraft has been making plans to make sure that the Gillette Stadium is approved to host several matches during the world cup.
On Wednesday, Robert Kraft together with numerous FIFA officials set out to inspect Gillette Stadium in its quest for approval. The stadium officials depicted that plan are underway to rip off the current synthetic surface, reinstate the dormant irrigation scheme and also reinstall the real turf.
Among the 17 stadiums in the US that made it to the final list, Gillette is considered the most favorite. This is because Robert serves in the position of honorary chair of the 2026 World Cup United Bid Group. On the other hand, though the majority of US stadiums are newer than Gillette which was opened in the year 2002, they will also have to make a myriad of structural changes to comply with FIFA’s field-width minimums.
